Introducing Canyon Country Chiropractor Dr. Charles Konya

Dr. Charles Konya

I believe that in order to fully experience life, it is sometimes necessary to reinvent yourself- to live in a new city, to meet different people, to find a new career, to embark upon an unknown path. Most often the twists and turns of the journey happen by accident. I have learned that in my reality there are no accidents. The process that is guiding me on my path seems carefully orchestrated by a force unknown. It seems that every person I have met and every situation I have encountered has been in my life at the right time and place. I share this with you because it is the foundation of what I bring to my patients at Konya Chiropractic Center.

For over 30 years my father worked as a diplomat for the American Foreign Service serving at various consulates and embassies in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. It is because of his job that my sister and I were raised mostly in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, and Thailand. Having seen so much of the world at a young age, resulted in my appreciation for diversity and quest for adventure.

After graduating from Cairo America College, I completed a B.S. program in Science Education at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. I taught high school biology for three years in Baltimore and life science for one year in Columbia, Maryland before deciding to move to California to pursue teaching. I was awarded a Lifetime Standard Secondary Teaching Credential in Biological Sciences (CA) .

While waiting for a position to open up at Taft or Grant High Schools, I joined the Screen Extras Guild and did stand-in and extra work over following eight years. My teaching position offer finally came through four years later, at which time I was well established as a stand in on" Love Boat". I decided to turn the job down. By that time I had received screen credits in two movies. I had worked with Elizabeth Taylor, Gregory Peck, and Betty Davis to name a few. This kind of work was fun until.. One morning, in 1980, on my way to work, I twisted and bent over to pick up my tuxedo from my bed when I experienced a sharp, searing pain in my lower back which forced me to drop to the floor. I immediately called a extra friend of mine who had just graduated from chiropractic college. I remember limping into his office later that morning bent over in extreme pain. After a set of X-rays and an examination, I was placed on a table and received my first chiropractic adjustment. I felt an immediate release of low back pain and muscle spasms and all of this because of a realignment of a misaligned vertebra that had irritated a nerve in my low back. A half hour later I walked back to my car and drove home in no pain. No pills. No surgery. No long hospital stays. Just a chiropractic adjustment! I followed up with future treatments over the next month.

Five years later, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. After a year serving as an associate chiropractor in Valencia, I opened my practice in Canyon Country. That was 23 years ago. During that time I have treated thousands of Santa Clarita residents, mentored six other chiropractors at this office, and completed graduate courses to stay current with new research, products and techniques. Over the years I have spoken at local high schools, businesses and groups about chiropractic and health.

What makes my practice special is that we are specialists in getting spinal corrections vs. getting you feeling better. We correct the causes of problems vs. just managing the effects. We set goals and objectives in your care and we evaluate your progress on a regular basis to see how well you are progressing.

When a new patient comes to me, I make sure to take the time to explain about the wonders of chiropractic. The teacher is still here. My patients appreciate my explanations and understand the relationship of spinal interference and health. They understand that I do not treat pain. I help their body remove nerve interference, after which the pain will subside naturally without pills and healing will begin. By referring other family members and friends, my patients show that they entrust me with the care of their loved ones. This is an honor and responsibility that I don't take lightly. My tools are my hands and without a healthy nervous system free of nerve interference, I would not be able to identify spinal misalignments, muscle spasms and imbalances to help your body correct itself.

I follow through on my own health program. I do cardio 3 times per week and weight train 1-2 times a week. I take Omega 3 essential fatty acids and several other nutritional supplements to help my internal workings running at top efficiency. I get chiropractic adjustments regularly to control arthritis in my neck( an old injury stemming from a high dive accident when I was ten).I am proud to state that I have never taken a sick day in over 23 years. I attribute that to chiropractic and my wellness program.

Enough about me. I look forward to meeting you in person and discussing if and how chiropractic can help you. Giveour Canyon Country office a call today or e-mail . Let's arrange a time to explore your options.
